Privacy Policy
What Size It Up keeps, what stays in your browser, and the choices you have over both.
Last updated: 2026-10-29
The short version
- You do not need an account to play, and we never ask for your name.
- Your scores, streak and best runs are stored in your own browser, not in a profile on our side.
- We do not sell personal information, and we do not hand it to anyone for cross-context advertising.
- The only outside services that can see anything are the analytics and advertising tools described below, and only where they are switched on and you have agreed to them.
The rest of this page explains those four points in the detail the law expects.
Who we are
Size It Up is a free browser game about estimating size. This policy covers every page on this domain — the home page, the Magnitudle Game and Size Comparison Game pages, the blog, and the guest post page — and explains what happens to information when you open one of them, play a set, or write to us.
What stays in your browser
The game keeps its own state on your device: which rounds you have already played today, your score, your streak, your best results, and small preferences such as the deck you chose last time. That data lives in your browser's local storage. It is not uploaded to us and we have no way to read it.
Because of that, clearing your browser's site data removes your streak and history permanently, and we cannot restore them — we never held a copy. Playing in a private window has the same effect once the window closes.
Information you give us
There are only two ways to send us something directly:
- Email. If you write to us, we receive your address, your message and anything you attach. We keep it only as long as needed to answer and to keep a record of the request.
- Guest post submissions. If you pitch an article, we receive your name or handle, your email, any links you include, and the draft itself. Published posts show the byline you gave us; drafts we decline are deleted.
We do not ask for an account, a phone number, a birth date or payment details. Playing the daily puzzle costs nothing and never requires a checkout.
Information collected when a page loads
Like any website, our host records standard request data: IP address, browser and operating system, the page requested, the referring page, and a timestamp. We use it to keep the site online, block abuse and understand roughly how much traffic we serve. It is not used to build a profile of you, and it is kept only as long as needed for those purposes.
Cookies and local storage
- Consent cookie. Where cookie consent is required, your choice is stored in a cookie so the banner does not reappear on every visit. You can change that choice at any time by clearing this site's cookies and storage; the banner will ask again.
- Game storage. Scores, streak and preferences, as described above. This is local storage, not a tracking cookie.
- Analytics and advertising cookies. Set only when those features are enabled and, where the law requires it, only after you accept. Declining leaves the game fully playable.
Analytics
When analytics is enabled we use Google Analytics 4 and/or Plausible. Both report aggregate figures such as page views, session length, approximate country and device type, and the page you arrived from. Plausible is cookieless and does not attempt to identify individuals. Google Analytics may set cookies and receive your IP address, which is truncated for location purposes inside the EU. We do not enable advertising features in Google Analytics, and we do not combine analytics data with anything else to identify you.
Advertising
If ads are enabled on the site, they are served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or device identifiers to select and measure ads, including personalised ads where you have consented. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, personalised advertising is off until you agree. You can review or reset what Google knows about you at adssettings.google.com, and read how Google uses data from partner sites at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Where ads are disabled, the site sets no advertising cookies at all.
How we use information
We use the limited data described above to:
- serve pages and keep the site available and secure;
- understand which pages and which game modes are used, in aggregate;
- answer messages and review guest post pitches;
- detect automated abuse, scraping and attacks;
- meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you, and we do not run profiling for marketing.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers that run the site for us — hosting, analytics and, where enabled, advertising — under contracts that limit them to our instructions.
- Authorities, where a valid legal request requires it, or where we must protect someone's safety.
- A successor, if the project is transferred, in which case this policy continues to apply until it is replaced.
Retention
Local game data stays on your device until you clear it. Server logs and emails are kept only as long as needed for the purpose they were collected for, then deleted or aggregated. Analytics data is retained on the provider's standard schedule and is not kept indefinitely by us.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, restrict or delete the personal information we hold, to object to processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Because we hold so little, most requests concern an email you sent us or a guest post draft.
To exercise any of these rights, write to the address in the Contact section. We answer within 30 days and will ask for enough detail to find your records — never for a password or an ID document unless the law requires it.
Data held in your browser is under your control, not ours: clearing site data deletes it immediately.
Children
The game is intended for a general audience aged 13 and over, and it is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, write to us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, access to server configuration is restricted, and we keep the software patched. No website can promise perfect security, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. If a breach ever affects your information, we will notify you and the relevant authority as required.
Changes to this policy
If the way we handle data changes — for example if accounts or payments are added — we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be announced on the site before they take effect. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
